A Customized Approach to Advertising

It’s well known that creative marketing increases business. Your logo is the soul of your company and its imagery reflects your company’s attitude towards life. Customized advertising provides a means for your customers to remember you and your product in the future.

According to recent study, "76.1% of respondents could recall the advertiser's name on a customized product that they had received in the past 12 months. In addition, 75.4% of respondents said they kept their promotional product because it was useful."

Investing in relevant and useful promotional advertising compounds a company’s brand ability. Around the world, millions of customers walk into a Starbucks and wait in line with their branded coffee mug. By creating a statement of values, in this case, re-usable coffee receptacles, this business has their own paying customers advertising for them everyday.

Finding relevant custom products to imprint your business name or logo to represent your industry is crucial to the viability of its advertising potential. Here are our top-five, industry relevant, customizable products in no specific order:

Advertising and Promoting – A New Focus

In a pocket tight economy businesses are across the board pulling back on spending. As money tightens so do the expenditures. The way we brand ourselves can have a huge effect on how we are received by the public. Customers are becoming more savvy and conservative and look for companies with a strong lifeline and an intelligence to get them through tough times.

Promotional pens are one of the cheapest and most effective ways to get your brand into the hands of potential customers. So, why a promotional pen vs. another form of advertising? For one, they are cost effective. BizPen, our promotional product company, offers personalized pens for under $.59 and when you think about shipping, pens are lightweight and travel easily. Functionality extends even further when, for a little extra money, you can hand out personalized refillable pens, and in this globally aware environment, that says a lot for how your customers perceive your conscientious awareness. Customers want something useful in return for their loyalty and a promotional pen is not only well received, but also easily passed along to other prospective patrons. This is the best part of all; your customers advertising for you. How many business cards have you picked up at meetings or public events, hoping to tell a friend or co-worker, only to misplace it later? That’s because paper is a throw away item. It gets wet, tattered, thrown into a console in your car and now that brand is garbage. A custom pen is something someone is going to hold onto and use. It saves your customers money, serves a functional purpose in their life and can be lent out to a friend. The pen travels, illuminating its brand, while often times the paper gets tossed in a drawer or shoved in a wallet, never to see the light of day again.

Note: Right now at BizPen, we also have a special deep-discount closeout on the Newspring Opaque Custom Pen – another of BizPen’s economically cheap promotional pens to have ready for your next advertising or branding effort.

Promoting you to Promote Yourself

video

Commercial promotion is necessary in any economy. Naomi Klein sites in her book No Logo "To quote Tom Peters, the brand man himself:'Brand! Brand!! Brand!!! That's the message...for the late '90's and beyond.'...This was the secret, it seemed, of all the success stories of the late eighties and early nineties. The lesson of Marlboro Friday was that there never really was a brand crisis - only brands that that had crises of confidence." In this receded global economy the fear factor is so omnipresent it has people shaking in their boots, but this fear is no more than an illusion which will inevitably skim the fat from the top leaving a piping hot economy for those businesses that were smart enough to keep their brand visible to the public eye.

You are What you Buy

Where we spend our money says a lot about who we are. The clothes you wear, the car you drive, even the toothpaste on your bathroom counter can make a statement about the choices and values you hold dear as an individual. Have you ever been in someone’s home or office and made a decision about their personality based on the products they supply themselves with. Whether it’s the product brands on the kitchen shelf, the logo imprinted shirt on our back, or the type of car we drive; we are what we buy. So how do you make your statement? Is it the with your favorite brand of skin care products, you know, the one with the cute little logo printed on the wrapper, that say’s I care about myself and I like to be playful. Or is it your collection of custom printed band t-shirts that let’s the world know that you’re a music buff? Maybe it’s the designer purse you carry with the fancy engraved key-tag that let’s people know that you care about quality. Maybe it’s the statement printed on the bumper sticker on your car that let’s the world know that the environment is your main concern. Whatever it is you surround yourself with, keep in mind you are making a statement about who you are. Whether you are choosing a product based on the adorable imprinted logo, on the inexpensive price point, or on the quality of the ingredients or materials used to produce it; where you spend your money, says a lot about the values you carry with you. So the next time you’re out shopping or even reorganizing, pay attention to the products you customize your personal surroundings with and how they represent you? You may not be advertising your personal product in a way that promotes your custom lifestyle … or maybe you are? Either way, we are the product of the personal imprint we brand upon our lives, from the apparel we wear to the type of pen we use; so make sure your custom imprint fits the persona you want the world to see. .

The culture of personal product promotion

The culture of personal product promotion is so prolific even the art world has something to say about it...

Recently I attended the hottest photo show in los angeles, Photo l.a. at the Barker Hangar. As an Advertising Specialistand Fine Art Collector, I can’t help but comment upon the work of Deitrich Wegner, Australia. His photo of a branded baby speaks to the culture of product promotion and it’s prolific affect on the way we interact with our society. We are a branded culture. A culture of imprinted logos and corporate sponsorship. This artistic commentary speaks to the phenomenal power of the logo and the extreme success of promotional product marketing. We see these logos imprinted on everything: pens, apparel, USBs, you name it, anything can be imprinted with a logo…and now…even babies.
